Owner Surrender Request

If you need to surrender a dog or cat, the Humane Society of Blue Ridge accepts owner surrender requests by appointment only.

We understand that surrendering a pet can be a very difficult decision. Our goal is to gather information that will help us understand your pet’s personality, medical needs and daily routine so we can work toward the best possible outcome for them.

Please complete the form below as honestly and thoroughly as possible.

The information you provide helps our team determine whether we are able to accept your pet and how we can best support their transition.

For the safety of our staff, volunteers, and other animals, all pets are evaluated for health and temperament before being accepted into the shelter.

Animals that show signs of aggression or present safety concerns may not be eligible for intake.

Please note that submitting this form does not guarantee that we will be able to accept your pet and we cannot make promises regarding future placement or adoption.

Once your request is submitted, our Intake Coordinator will review the information and contact you as soon as possible if we are able to move forward with the surrender process.
